I.Summer Intern on a Water-Energy Project in Argonne National Laboratory

Department Description:

The Center for Energy, Environmental, and Economic System Analysis at Argonne National Laboratory is looking to hire a summer intern to work on an energy-water nexus project. The intern will help investigate the water component in various sectors and qualitatively model its impacts.

 

Requirements:
       
 Ph.D candidates (or master degree with work experience) in Hydrology, Agronomy, Civil Engineering or related programs
        You are expected to have experience with water modeling in agriculture, energy and public supply.
        Familiar with integrated assessment model (IAM) and have experience of applying IAM in research; Familiar with climate adaptions.
        Knowledge with downscaling methods.
        Experience with writing peer reviewed articles.

III.Water-Energy Lead Scientist

Position Summary:
Berkeley Lab has an opening for a Water-Energy Lead Scientist. Building on its historic strength of team science in tackling complex challenges that require integration of varied expertise, LBNL is setting out to develop knowledge and approaches to guide optimized investments in water-energy systems and infrastructure, with the recognition that energy systems are vulnerable to water availability, that fresh water sustainability is vulnerable to energy availability, and that science and technology is needed to optimize coupled energy-water systems. IV.Mars Science Laboratory Rover Postdoctoral Researcher

VIII. PhD on modeling deep biosphere-geosphere interactions

Department Description:

The Department of Earth Science seeks a doctoral research fellow to study the linkage between geochemical energy landscapes and microbial ecosystems. The candidate will join an interdisciplinary team investigating the coupling between geochemical variability and microbial community structure and activity in deep-marine sediments and hydrothermal systems. A central task will be to develop inverse models of energy landscapes based on geochemical and microbial data.

 

Duties:

Applicants must have achieved a master’s degree or equivalent in physics, computational biology, geochemistry or similar fields relevant to the topic, by the closing date. Practical experience with mathematical modeling of natural systems will be emphasized.
